Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Drive Kathmandu to Dhap (2,100m)
Long but scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap village in the Solukhumbu district (8-9 hours). Pass through the Tamakoshi valley and arrive in the evening. Settle into a local homestay and meet your host family.
Day 2: Dhap to Jhapre (2,800m)
Begin trekking through terraced farms and forests of oak, rhododendron, and pine. The trail passes through small Rai and Sherpa villages. As you gain altitude, the first glimpses of the Himalayan range appear through the trees. About 5 hours of walking.
Day 3: Jhapre to Pikey Base Camp (3,640m)
Continue climbing through increasingly dramatic forest scenery. The trail winds along a high ridge with expanding mountain views. Arrive at Pikey Base Camp in the late afternoon. Clear evenings offer a spectacular star show above the Himalayas. About 5-6 hours.
Day 4: Pikey Peak Summit (4,065m) — Trek to Junbesi (2,675m)
Pre-dawn start for the summit push. Reach Pikey Peak at sunrise for a 360-degree panorama that includes Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Gauri Shankar. Descend to the historic Sherpa village of Junbesi, home to a beautiful monastery built by Sir Edmund Hillary. About 7 hours total.
Day 5: Junbesi to Salleri (2,370m)
Trek through the Solu Valley, one of the most culturally rich areas of Nepal. Visit Sherpa monasteries, chortens, and mani walls. The trail descends through farmland and forest to the market town of Salleri. About 5 hours of walking.
Day 6: Drive Salleri to Kathmandu
Early morning drive back to Kathmandu (8-9 hours) through the scenic hill country of eastern Nepal. Arrive in the evening. Optional farewell dinner in Thamel.
