What Our Travelers Say

Real stories from real adventurers who trusted Short Treks Nepal with their journey.

“I had never trekked before and was nervous about the Poon Hill trek. The team made it so easy. Our guide Dawa was patient, encouraging, and genuinely fun. The sunrise at Poon Hill was the highlight of my entire Nepal trip. I cannot recommend Short Treks Nepal enough for first-timers.”

“We did the Australian Camp trek with our two kids (ages 7 and 10). The pace was perfect — the kids loved it and never complained about walking. Waking up to Machhapuchhre right outside our window was magical. The guide was amazing with the children.”

“As a solo female traveler, I was looking for a safe and easy way to experience the Himalayas. The Nagarkot-Chisapani trek was perfect — close to Kathmandu, beautiful forest, and that sunrise view of the entire Himalayan range. My guide was professional and knowledgeable. Three days well spent.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about our treks and adventure travel experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous trekking experience?
No. Our short treks are specifically designed for beginners. The trails are well-established, the daily walking distances are manageable (3-6 hours), and our guides set a pace that works for everyone. If you can walk uphill for a few hours, you can do these treks.
What fitness level do I need?
Basic fitness is sufficient for our easy-rated treks (Australian Camp, Dhampus Sarangkot, Nagarkot Chisapani). If you walk or exercise regularly, you are ready. For easy-moderate treks like Mardi Himal and Pikey Peak, we recommend doing some cardio training and hill walks for 4-6 weeks before departure.
Is it safe for solo travelers?
Absolutely. All our treks include a professional guide, so you are never walking alone. The trails are well-traveled, especially in peak season. Many of our clients are solo travelers — it is a great way to meet people. For solo female travelers, we can assign a female guide on request.
What about altitude sickness on short treks?
Most of our short treks stay below 3,500m where altitude sickness is rare. Even our highest trek, Mardi Himal (4,500m at the viewpoint), is designed with a gradual ascent. Our guides are trained to recognize altitude symptoms and we carry basic medication. If you have any concerns, the 3-day treks near Pokhara and Kathmandu stay below 2,200m.
What is the food like on the trek?
Teahouses serve a standard trekker menu — dal bhat (lentil soup with rice, the Nepali staple), noodle soups, fried rice, pasta, pancakes, porridge, eggs, and toast. The food is simple, filling, and freshly prepared. Vegetarian options are plentiful. Dal bhat is unlimited refills — a trekker tradition.
