Nagarkot Chisapani Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really see Everest from Nagarkot?
Yes, on a clear day you can see Everest (8,849m) from both Nagarkot and Chisapani. It appears as a distinctive pyramid on the eastern horizon. October to February offers the clearest visibility. The panorama also includes Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, and many other peaks.
Is this trek suitable for my last days in Nepal?
Perfect for it. The trek ends at Sundarijal, just 30 minutes from central Kathmandu. You can finish by lunchtime on Day 3 and still catch an evening flight. Many of our clients do this trek at the end of their Nepal trip.
How does this compare to other short treks?
This is the most convenient short trek in Nepal — no flights or long drives. The views are broader (you see the full Himalayan chain) but more distant than treks like Poon Hill or Mardi Himal where you are closer to the peaks. It is ideal for Kathmandu-based travelers with limited time.
What is the trail condition?
The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked. It passes through Shivapuri National Park on established paths. There are no dangerous sections, river crossings, or exposed ridges. The terrain is gentle forest trail with moderate ups and downs.
Can I do this in the monsoon?
The trail is walkable during monsoon (June-August) but mountain views will likely be obscured by clouds. The forest is lush and green, and leeches are common on the trail. We recommend October to May for the best experience.
