Dhampus Sarangkot Trek — Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the Australian Camp trek?
Both are easy 3-day treks near Pokhara. The Dhampus Sarangkot trek focuses on the ridge walk between two viewpoints and ends with the famous Sarangkot sunrise. Australian Camp goes slightly higher (2,060m vs 1,650m) and has a different village experience at Ghandruk. Both offer spectacular Annapurna views.
Is this suitable for elderly trekkers?
Yes, this is one of the most suitable treks for older adults. The maximum altitude is just 1,650m, the daily walking is short, and the trails are well-maintained. We adjust the pace to your comfort level and can arrange additional rest stops as needed.
Can I combine this with paragliding?
Absolutely. Sarangkot is the launch point for Pokhara's famous paragliding. You can arrange a tandem flight on Day 3 after watching the sunrise and glide back down to the lakeside. We can coordinate this for you.
What should I pack?
Light trekking gear is sufficient. Comfortable walking shoes (trekking boots are not essential), layered clothing, a light rain jacket, sunscreen, and a camera. Temperatures are mild at these altitudes year-round.
Is this trek available year-round?
Yes, the low altitude means this trek is feasible in all seasons. Autumn and spring are ideal for views. Winter is cool but clear. Even during monsoon the rain is manageable at these elevations, though views may be obscured by clouds.
